Ten tips to reduce stress

Welcome!

Below is some helpful information if you are new to Relax-u-puncture. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

New Patient Forms: For added convenience, you can print out and complete the comprehensive health assessment form at home before visiting our office. Although it's not required, bringing completed forms with you will save time and help make your first appointment fast and easy.  You will need an Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print the files. If you do not have this program you can either download a free version, or simply call our office and we will gladly send or fax the forms to you.

Comprehensive Health Assessment

Office Policies: Kindly give 24 hours notice if unable to keep your appointment, otherwise a fee will be charged for your reserved time.

Payment: Cash and check are accepted at the time of your visit.  The initial health review and assessment fee is $35. The treatment fee is $85.  Please call to inquire about pricing for special programs such as acupuncture for smoking cessation.

Insurance: Some health insurance companies cover acupuncture treatment. Our office is happy to provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. You should contact your health insurance company to learn about their specific rules regarding acupuncture coverage and reimbursement.

Doctor Referral: According to Pennsylvania law: an “acupuncturist may treat a person's condition without the condition being diagnosed by a licensed physician, dentist or podiatrist for 60 calendar days from the date of the first treatment. An acupuncturist may treat a person's condition  beyond 60 calendar days from the date of the first treatment if the person obtained a diagnosis of the treated condition from a licensed physician, dentist or podiatrist.
This referral can be faxed to our office at 215-545-4095.

What to expect during your visit:

  • Health History Review: For your first visit we will meet for approximately 90 minutes. This gives us time to review your health history and clarify your treatment goals. We will discuss all of your bodily systems and any other symptoms or health concerns that you may have. Although it may seem to be unrelated to your chief area of concern, the information gathered from your intake will help to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for you.

  • Physical Assessment:  After reviewing your health, you will be asked to lie on a massage table for a physical assessment.  I will read pulses at your wrists and neck and feel energy channels, called meridians, to detect differences in temperature, texture and moisture. What I observe at these channels and points and what you report about these areas informs your treatment plan.

  • Treatment:  After the intake and physical examination,  you will receive a treatment that is specifically tailored to you. This may include a combination of acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, acupressure/massage, etc.

  • Completion and Treatment Schedule: The treatment is finished after a final physical assessment is performed to ensure that your energy is moving in a more healthy way and the body has come into balance. After leaving the table, the patient and practitioner will discuss an ideal treatment schedule and set the next visit, usually 3 to 7 days following the initial visit.  Follow-up visits last approximately 1 hour.
